Bidding to Begin Soon on Singapore Casinos
Casino Conditions Staff

The race is on to get a chance at building one of two casino in Singapore.  Just three years ago, the Asian island banned casino gambling, but is now letting it in to bring more tourists and revenue from overseas.  Some of the biggest gambling companies in the business are very interested in bidding for the highly marketable area, and will be doing so in the coming months.  Based on demographics alone, and the popularity of gambling in nearby China, casinos in Singapore would surely make a killing for both the Singapore government and the two lucky companies who get the privilege to build two world-class casino resorts.

Singapore is currently the hotbed for several gambling companies seeking to win bids to build casinos on the island.  Although no formal requests have been given out by the Singapore government as of yet, steps are being taken to get to that point very soon.  Currently, recommendations are being compiled into a report that will list the protocol to be used in determining how much land can be sanctioned for putting up casinos.

When the report is done, which will be by the end of October, the Singapore Government will then ask interested companies to submit formal bids.  Two casinos, total, will be permitted to go up, which the biggest names in casino gambling are hoping to get.

Both MGM and Harrah's have expressed great interest, along with nineteen other parties, of which, five were dismissed, while two other companies have withdrawn their initial propositions.  Now that the time is coming close to commence construction of the two casinos, the Singapore Government will be taking formal propositions, complete with all the details and information of how each gaming company plans to go about building their respective casinos.

Only two years ago, Singapore had a strict ban on gambling, which was removed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in an attempt to increase the tourist industry in Singapore, and bring more money to its economy.  And although there is some opposition from social groups like Focus on the Family, the plan to build two casinos will be made a reality.

The bidding process will begin after the land sanctioning report is finished, at which time the Singapore Tourism Board will release details to the competing gambling companies and general public.
