Cosmic Quest Mystery Planets

Since I enjoyed playing Cosmic Quest Mission Control, I decided to give the sequel a spin and play Cosmic Quest Mystery Planets.  This game seems a bit more alien oriented with a series of planets making up the main symbols along with a green robot, a funky radio and a landing pad.

Cosmic Quest Mission Control is five reel, twenty line game with bets starting at a penny per line and going up from there.  When you line up the basic symbols, the game has some nice animation. I particularly like the snow that forms on the top of the blue ice world.  Despite my love of islots, the music could use some work.  The pounding  space rhythm is probably supposed to keep me in the game, but actually, I turned it off and pulled out the ipod.  (Game developers, try adding another track or two to keep the music from being so repetitious.)

The bonuses are the main reason I play islots and this one doesn’t disappoint.  First there is the Wild Rocket which blasts off to expand the wild symbol on the reel it came up on. Your wins are multiplied by the number of rockets blasting off.  Also, if you get tired of sitting through the blast off animation, the spin button turns into a Skip Animation button.

The Jackpot Jetpack is another symbol you want to see spin up.  It will trigger 10, 15 or 50 free spins with a double multiplier.  That Jetpack is what usually keeps me in the money.

The final bonus is the Scatter Astronaut or Scatterstronaut as the game says.  Perhaps they should have rethought that name since it sounds like what happens when you sneeze.  But hit three Scatters and you’ll open the bonus round.  Here you have a choice of random play or skill play.  If you choose Random Play, thegame sends a space message and calculates your win.  Skill play does actually take some skill.  You have to use your keyboard to fly your rocket racer through a lunar tunnel without hitting anything. You’ll get the biggest bonus if you reach the landing pad.  But even if you crash getting off the launch pad, you’ll win something.

Overall, a great game to play and if you love islots, you’ll love this one.  Just be prepared to supply your own music.
