Sparta Slot Review

*Warning review written by a female reviewer*

Okay, let’s get to it.  When I first saw the slot, I though, hmm, maybe not. I probably would have gone on to find something that wasn’t so based on the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K, A symbols if I hadn’t hit the wild symbol on my first spin.  So, what made me stay and keep spinning the reels? Well, read on and find out.

Sparta is a 30 line, 5 reel slot with a maximum bet that starts at $3 and can go as high as $1500 for a single spin.  The background is a barren landscape that I guess is to suggest Greece or Sparta. Though both countries does have trees.  The basic symbols are the traditional 9-A that really make me wish the slot designer would put a bit more thought into symbols. These are done to represent carved Greek letters, though not actually done as Greek letters.  The Spartan army is the scatter symbol and hitting three, four or five will win you 15 free spins with double winnings.

The game also features a gamble feature where you can try to double or half double your winnings by picking a higher card than the dealer card.  The game is a gamble since it seems there sometimes isn’t a higher card to choose. But I find I have trouble navigating that section.  If you gamble and win then want to leave, you must hit Collect.  If you hit the close button, it closes the game and takes you back to the lobby.  I’ve visited the lobby more often than I really want  to.  But let’s get to the real reason I’m playing this game.

The Spartan is the expanding wild, and my, oh, my does he expand.  If you hit a win with the wild symbol, the reel will fill with the Spartan himself in his barely there battle garb. He’s got a helmet on and shin guards and forearm guards.  But apparently this Spartan believed in marching to battle without his shirt on.  This wild is both dramatic and  appealing to a female audience.

Now my “up or down” money review.  Down, but have you seen the muscles on that Spartan?
