Gambling Tip of the Month: Taking Care With Coin-less Casino Slot Redemption Tickets

One of the latest trends in the land-based casino gambling industry is the replacement of coin-fed slot machines to coin-less ticket slots. Coin-less machines are certainly no stranger to Las Vegas Strip casinos, who have had them on the their gaming floors for several years now. However, coin-fed machines have managed to hand around, catering to those players who were weary of going coin-less. They won't be hanging around for too much longer though, for most casinos these days are converting their machines to coin-less. Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut recently announced they will be going entirely coin-less this year. With the introduction of multi-denominational video slots (Mohegan Sun now offers half-cent slots), the prospects of going coin-less essentially became imperative. Add to this the fact that casinos save on costs by needing fewer slot attendants and cashier workers and it only makes sense that coin-fed slot machines will eventually be entirely phased out. There are just as many benefits for the players as well. Instead of lugging around a heavy bucket of coins, players receive redemption tickets that can not only be transferred from machine to machine (just like paper currency), but can also be cashed in at automatic redemption kiosks on the gaming floor. One thing that players need to keep in mind is that their redemption tickets are as good as gold. It is not uncommon for players to fold their redemption ticket up and forget to cash it out. They can easily get lost amongst other receipts and even end up in the trash. Some players have traveled long distances to Las Vegas, only to find out later after returning home that they forgot to cash in their redemption ticket. Some casinos do not have mail-in redemption policies, so be sure to always check your pockets for any redemption tickets that need to be cashed out before leaving the casino.
