Playtech Online Casino Games - Las Vegas Blackjack
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

The last, but certainly not least, of our blackjack game reviews of the top online casino software developers in the business is for none other than Playtech. Online casinos using Playtech software offer three different types of blackjack, including standard Las Vegas Blackjack, Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender. Pontoon is also available, which is basically the British version of Blackjack. Let's hope you are British anyways because as of right now Playtech does not even accept U.S. players - even on their practice gaming platforms.

In regards to Playtech's standard Las Vegas Blackjack, it is played with six 52-card decks. Since surrendering is not allowed (giving a casinos edge of .52%), some serious blackjack players stick to the Blackjack Surrender version. In fact, unless you are bound to playing standard blackjack by certain bonus conditions, you are better off playing Blackjack Surrender, in terms of playing with more advantageous rules.

Standard rules regarding Insurance and Doubling down (both of which are allowed) apply to Playtech blackjack. Splitting is only allowed once and Doubling Down is allowed after splitting. In terms of the dealer's actions, he must stand on all card totals of seventeen or more, including Soft 17 (an Ace with a six). The dealer will never check for blackjack in any situation, which is another rule in favor of the player.

The area is which some explanation is needed is in regards to the dealer getting blackjack, which is governed by a combination of European and U.S. rules. If the dealer gets blackjack with a face-up Ace and the player double his bet and/or splits the hand, the entire bet is lost. If the dealer gets blackjack with a 10 card face-up, the entire bet is lost if the player splits. If the player just doubles down then only the original bet is lost. If the player double and splits, the bet going toward the split hand is lost but the double down bet is returned.

Playtech's standard blackjack game allows players the option of playing multi-hand games (up to three hands at once) and offers live chat during hands. As for graphics, Playtech's are hard to beat, while game responsiveness is probably the fastest of all other casino software developers out there.
