Selecting the Best Slot Machine Possible

Whether you are in the online casino or doing the rounds at your local race track, if you are going to play slot machines, be sure to shop around beforehand.  There are many different machines to choose from.  For instance, there are groups of slot machines set up in what are called carousels.  In any slot carousel, you are likely to find the same denomination of machines, but different slot games that offer different progressive jackpots.  It would not be uncommon to find a quarter machine offering a $3,000 jackpot, with an adjacent machine offering only $2,000.

Obviously, it is in your best interests to play the quarter machine with the higher progressive jackpot.  But what about payout percentage?  Sure, this is a major factor in choosing a machine, which can be the difference in what online casino you decide to play at.  However, there is often more to a slots payout percentage than meets the eye.

For instance, you might see an advertisement for an Atlantic City casino saying their slots have over a 98% payout.  Obviously, this is an excellent payout that you would be hard pressed to find at more than a handful of casinos.  However, when a casino says their slots payouts are that high, they are usually only referring to either one particular slot game - or even more commonly - a small bank of machines.

The casino advertisement will hardly ever tell you the above information.  That means it is up to you to find out which slot machines are getting the above average payout.  Your best bet is asking a casino employee when you arrive in the lobby.  Bring the advertisement with you if possible - If that is not feasible, then at least write it down, notating the payout percentage and the timeframe of the promotion.  If nobody can give you answer, then request to speak to a direct supervisor.  Although you may have to wait around to get an answer, it will be well worth it when you are eventually gambling with a slots payout percentage that most gamblers are not getting.
