Things to Know Before Making Your First Online Deposit
by Mike Harrison, Strategy and Games Writer

The terms and conditions governing a free cash bonus can often have more clauses than the regular terms and conditions governing the use of the online gaming software platform. And although bonus T&C's are no more important than a casinos general gaming policies, the fact remains that players often overlook the fine print used to govern free cash bonuses.

As mentioned in our previous tips, before accepting a bonus, players should verify the wager requirement and any game restrictions that may be in place. When all this is said and done, and a cash bonus is in the running, there are still some other things you should verify first before making a deposit with the online casino.

We have come across some online casinos that only divulge the wager requirements of their bonuses through their cashier. In other words, players would need to first download the software or log into a Flash software platform in order to see the bonus T&C's listed within the cashier. And while we do not necessarily frown on this practice, we strongly advise players to not feel obligated to make a deposit after downloading the software, especially after realizing the wager requirement is less than fair.

Some gaming sites require players to meet certain promotion eligibility standards before qualifying to receive the bonus money. If this is the case, which will be divulged in the bonus T&C's, do not deposit money before attempting to claim the bonus. A casino with this type of qualification should allow/require players to claim the bonus before making a deposit. When the player is notified that they are eligible to receive the bonus money, then and only then should the deposit be made with the online casino.

In some cases, players are required to gamble a certain percentage of their initial deposit before the bonus money is deposited into their account. Be aware of this and you will save yourself some worry when you don't see your bonus money right away. Another thing to be aware of is that most bonuses can only be claimed with a special code. Sometimes this is divulged on the T&C's page, while other times it is divulged at the time of account registration online. Again, do not deposit funds until you know the bonus code.

Finally, (told you there was plenty of fine writing in bonus terms and conditions), be sure you and someone else living under the same roof - even if you use two separate computers - do not try to claim the same bonus at the same online casino. Even though you have different accounts, most bonus offers are void (and potential winnings derived from the bonus, which has happened often) will be deemed void if two bonuses are claimed from player(s) living at the same physical address or same computer ip address.
